Our Industry needs to push for ALL potential Electrical Operatives to go through the 2391 process and increase their knowledge of Inspection and Testing, making our Industry a safer place.
The AM2 is tied in with achieving the NVQ, why can’t the City & Guilds 2391 also be a mandatory qualification to enable JIB Gold card status and not specific to the “Approved” status.

The City and Guilds 2391 Online course will include safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations, the initial verification, testing before circuits are energised and testing energised installations.
The course will also guide the learner through the completion of electrical installation certificates and give a detailed description on how to complete all parts.
The course will highlight Health and Safety requirements, documents needed to aid the testing process and all areas relating to the changes in obtained values.
We will be working closely with the Guidance Note 3 to enable knowledge to be supported by various installation factors.

2391-51 Level 3 Award in Periodic Inspection & Testing
2391-52 Level 3 Award in Inspection & Testing (combination of initial and periodic)
Why do the City & Guilds 2391?
A lot of operatives don’t become exposed to the testing process of installations. Whether this is due to expense, time constraints or levels of competency. This needs to change.
All Electrical operatives should be comfortable with the Guidance note 3 and Onsite Guide Inspection and Testing literature and tabulated values. “It’s not as complicated as some like to think it is.”
